Tucked away near the edge of the forest at San Gabriel Homestead, Mr Bickerton’s Cottage is a charming one-bedroom cottage in the Stellenbosch Winelands. Its thick walls, carefully collected vintage décor and old-world character make it a peaceful country hideaway for couples or small families seeking time away from the rush of everyday life.

The spacious bedroom can be prepared with a king-size bed or two single beds. A quiet reading nook overlooking the trees can also be converted into a comfortable bed for a child under 12. The cottage includes a fully equipped kitchen and a warm, inviting living area with an indoor fireplace.

Outside, the private covered veranda provides a sheltered place to enjoy breakfast, evening drinks or an unhurried meal in the fresh country air. A Weber braai is available for relaxed South African barbecues, while San Gabriel’s shared swimming pool is only a short stroll from the cottage.

Surrounded by trees and the gentle rhythms of farm life, Mr Bickerton’s Cottage offers privacy, comfort and a wonderfully peaceful base from which to explore Stellenbosch and the Cape Winelands.

Life on the farm follows the seasons, so timings and activities may occasionally change. Any updates will be posted on the fridge in your cottage, so you'll always know what's happening during your stay.

Cottage Rules

We can’t wait to welcome you to San Gabriel. As this is both our home and a working homestead, we kindly ask that you respect the farm, our animals and fellow guests during your stay.

• Check-in: From 14:00 to 19:00
• Check-out: By 10:00
• Late check-outs are subject to availability and will incur an additional fee
• Smoking in designated areas only
• No parties
• No pets allowed
• Children must be supervised at all times
• Animals may not be chased, fed, or handled without permission
• Children under 3 stay for free in a cot. Please let us know in advance if you need a cot or high chair.

Cancellation Policy

This reservation is refundable depending on the date of cancellation and source of booking.

• If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
• If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit.
• If cancelling 21 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit.
• If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 25% of the deposit.
• Our cancellation fee is applicable regardless of whether payments have or have not been received.
• Our standard cancellation policy is not applicable to group or exclusive use stays.
